The Hispanic population within Polk County is growing at an unbelievable pace. Since 1990 the population has increased 176% to 56,964 for the year 2003. The growth advances are expected to continue with an estimated population of 74,250 in the year 2008. This represents an estimated additional growth of 31% within five years*.

- 52% of the Hispanic population get their average weekday news from newspapers.

- The vast majority of Hispanics, including those who only get news in English, view the Spanish language media as an important institution for the economic and political development of the Hispanic population.

- About two-thirds of the adult Hispanic population gets at least some news from Spanish language media.
